18 European startups selected for Industry 4.0 Accelerator

DeepTech Alliance – partners across Europe

Together with the DeepTech Alliance, we are proud to present the startups that were carefully chosen for our Industry 4.0 Accelerator. 110 startups within Industry 4.0 were evaluated for participation and only 18 were selected for the program. The selected startups are based all over Europe and are ready to deliver and test their solutions in European markets.

The DeepTech Alliance is a coalition between the best deep tech incubators and accelerators in Europe. The alliance works together to bring the most promising deep tech startups faster to the market and consists of 8 partners across Europe. Kongsberg Innovation is one of them.

Selected startups

The participants are working within predictive maintenance, quality control, process optimization & system integration, environmental sensors, worker enhancement and production tech.

About the Industry 4.0 Accelerator

The Industry 4.0 Accelerator is a 6-week accelerator program, that is exclusively designed for Industry 4.0 startups. Participating startups needs to be ready to deliver or test their solutions with corporate partners and customers in Europe. The program matches mature startups with partners, B2B customers and investors in new European markets. The Industry 4.0 Accelerator is delivered by the DeepTech Alliance. The alliance consists of 8 incubators and accelerators across Europe:

Kongsberg Innovation (Norway),  Drive Technion Accelerator (Israel), ieLab (Switzerland), Future Box (Denmark), Hello Tomorrow (France), UnternehmerTUM (Germany), PoliHub (Italy) and Things (Sweden).

Nytt scaleup-program skal akselerere digital transformasjon

I november 2020 ble Handelshøyskolen BI deleier i Kongsberg Innovasjon og akademisk partner innen skalering og internasjonal vekst. I samarbeid med BI etablerte Kongsberg Innovasjon et nytt tjenesteområde for å hjelpe norske teknologiselskaper å lykkes med global skalering. Nå lanseres, GlobalScaleX, som er det første av flere program og prosjekter i den nye satsningen.

GlobalScaleX skal hjelpe teknologiselskaper fra hele Norden med å akselerere digital transformasjon og realisere internasjonale vekstambisjoner. Det fellesnordiske programmet ledes av Nordic Innovation og er utviklet av Handelshøyskolen BI og Aalto University i samarbeid med Nordea Startup & Growth og Department of Trade and Investment (UK).

– GlobalScaleX-programmet bygger på vår erfaring fra eksisterende scaleup-programmer og industrisamarbeid med innovasjonsklynger som GCE Ocean Tech, Norway Health Tech og Kongsberg Innovasjon. Dette er en spennende mulighet for bedrifter til å utvikle strategier og nettverk for å skalere sin virksomhet globalt. Vi gleder oss til å utvide vår programportefølje i samarbeid med nye internasjonale partnere, sier Inge Jan Henjesand, rektor på Handelshøyskolen BI.

Vil gjøre Norden ledende

GlobalScaleX er en del av Nordic Scalers Program 2021 og er støttet av Innovasjon Norge og Stiftelsen Teknologiformidling. Ambisjonen er å gjøre Norden til en ledende region, ikke bare for startups, men også for vekstselskaper i skaleringsfasen.

GlobalScaleX gir utvalgte selskaper skreddersydde rammeverk og oppfølging fra bransjeeksperter, akademia og investorer. Et overordnet mål er å forbedre selskaper og norsk økonomi for fremtiden ved å skape nye arbeidsplasser i eksportorienterte kunnskapsnæringer.

Store vekstmuligheter

GlobalScaleX består av seks moduler, selskapsspesifikke mentorordninger og en demo-dag, som gjør det mulig for bedrifter å presentere sin forretningsidé til lokale og internasjonale investorer.

– Med hjelp fra eksperter, mentorer, gründere og investorer, muliggjør dette programmet at bedrifter er i stand til å oppnå vekst i et akselerert tempo som kan være vanskelig å oppnå andre steder, sier Per Ingvar Olsen, professor ved Handelshøyskolen BI.

Temaer for modulene inkluderer hvordan digitalisering muliggjør disruptiv innovasjon i bransjer og hvordan bedrifter kan fange muligheter gjennom det digital teknologi kan tilby.

Overvinne skaleringsbarrierer

Norden har et rekordhøyt antall vekstbedrifter, men ifølge studier er det bare 0,4 % av disse bedriftene som lykkes med skalering.

– Gjennom GlobalScaleX sørger vi for at bedriftene som deltar overvinner skalerings-barrierene. Programmet har fokus på strategiutvikling for internasjonal ekspansjon, forskningsbaserte verktøy for skalering og erfaringsutveksling fra mentorer og eksperter med «track record», sier Hoa Le Nguyen, Head of Scaling Programs i Kongsberg Innovasjon og Handelshøyskolen BI.

– Programmet er spesielt designet for selskaper som har en digital forretningsmodell og som har unike utfordringer knyttet til «rapid growth.» Selskaper som søker seg til GlobalScaleX bør ha en årlig inntekt på minst 2 millioner kroner euro, være minst 10 ansatte og ha årlige veksttall på minst 20 % de siste tre årene, legger Nguyen til.

The acceleration program is exclusively designed for Industry 4.0 startups, who are ready to deliver or test their solutions with corporate partners or customers in Europe.

What do we mean by Industry 4.0?

Industry 4.0 refers to the fourth industrial revolution, which affects every manufacturing domain and comprises advanced manufacturing technologies that capture, optimize, and deploy data.

Participants in the Industry 4.0 Accelerator can operate within several relevant fields such as: Predictive Maintenance, Automation, Sensor Technology, Big Data and Analytics, Simulation, Digital Twins, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality, Smart Systems, Value Chain System Integration, AI, (I)IoT, Additive Manufacturing and Cybersecurity.

Kongsberg Innovation joins DeepTech Alliance

DeepTech Alliance – partners across Europe

Kongsberg Innovation has been accepted as partner in a European coalition called the DeepTech Alliance. The alliance is an international initiative between the best deep tech incubators and accelerators in Europe to bring the most promising deep tech startups faster to the market.

Business incubators and accelerators affiliated with the DeepTech Alliance has a strong link to some of Europe’s top-tier academic institutions in Europe such as TU München, Politecnico de Milano, ETH Zürich and Technion. Correspondingly, BI Business School is Kongsberg Innovation’s academic partner in the DeepTech Alliance following the partnership agreement made in November 2020.

A leading startup ecosystem

With Kongsberg Innovation on board the DeepTech Alliance consist of eight partners from several European countries: Drive Technion Accelerator (Israel), ieLab (Switzerland), Future Box (Denmark), Hello Tomorrow (France), PoliHub (Italy), UnternehmerTUM (Germany) and Things (Sweden). These are accelerators connected to some of the most prestigious technical universities in the world, such as: Technion, ETH Zürich, DTU, Politecnico di Milano, TU München and KTH.

The DeepTech Alliance organizes European acceleration programs that brings startups, experts, innovation partners, investors, and corporates together. The ambition is to secure contracts and investments for the participants.

Industry-specific accelerators

In an increasing international and competitive world, the DeepTech Alliance focuses on industry-specific accelerators that are tailored to different fields within deep technology of high complexity. The different accelerators match mature startups with B2B partners and investors. The aim is to accelerate deep tech startups with high growth potential and international ambitions to new European markets.

– We will recruit the best deep tech startups from all over Norway to join the different industry-specific accelerator programs. The goal is to help them to win contracts and investments in Europe, says Eilertsen.

International collaboration

– PoliHUB has decided to join this ambitious alliance because we genuinely believes that international collaboration can represent a concrete way to facilitate the growth and impact of European startups by pooling resources, assets, and skills coming from each partner, says Stefano Mizio, head of startup acceleration programs at PoliHub.

Kongsberg Innovation is a member of Siva’s national incubator program. Innovation Norway has awarded Kongsberg Innovation an ecosystems grant to build and make an international innovation ecosystem available for promising startups across Norway. Kongsberg Innovation is also receiving annual grants from Viken County.
